Essential Oils for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Fibromyalgia
Essential Oils can help symptoms of M.E / CFS and Fibromyalgia
Many plants produce compounds that are best absorbed through the skin, and in recent years essential oils have become one of the most widely used, and least controversial areas of alternative health. They can be used to provide additional relaxation and anti-inflamatory properties to sore muscles. Unlike say homeopathic treatments, or dietary supplements they don't really need to be prescribed specifically for each person. The most popular and most commonly available essential oil is Lavender and it's popularity keeps the price down. I also use Grapefruit, for its relaxing but slightly stimulating properties and Chamomille, which is also an anti inflamatory, (although I use it sparingly as it costs three times as much as Lavender). Put a few drops in your bath, or possibly add to hot water if you are using hot water on a towel as a hot compress. You could also try a few drops in a footbath, as essential oils are particularly most easily absorbed through the soles of the feet.
Essential Oil massage for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Going for a essential oil massage is a relaxing option, but do explain your condition to your therapist. Too much contact and rubbing of the muscles could further inflame them, cancelling out the effect of the oils, so I prefer to put essential oils in the bath rather than adding them to a massage oil.
